Alfredo Palmero – Artist Biography

‘WHERE TRADITION MEETS CONTEMPORARY VISION’

Alfredo Palmero (Barcelona, 1966) is already the third generation of a lineage of artists that began with his grandfather, Maestro Palmero (1901-1991), with whom he shared a name and a great passion for painting. From his grandfather, he learned the academic foundations and realistic composition to develop his own style.

His training as an artist is shaped more by the influence of painters like Picasso, Klee, or Velázquez than by styles or movements. Classicism and contemporaneity create a bipolar body of work that the artist handles with ease, showcasing his personal vision of painting. Starting from academic drawing, blending tradition and modernity, Alfredo Palmero’s works exhibit a great artistic maturity resulting from relentless effort and research, where the treatment of light and color stands out.

His work draws from two distinct styles, one rooted in objective, naturalistic, and realistic painting; the other, of a subjective and internal nature, influenced by movements such as fantastic art, surrealism, and expressionism.

PALMERO MUSEUM

Alfredo Palmero has three Private Museums to his name, two of which belong to his family saga that boasts over 100 years of history in the world of painting. One of the museums is located in the birthplace of his grandfather, Master Palmero, in the heart of La Mancha (Almodóvar del Campo, Ciudad Real), while the other, the Palmero Museum in Barcelona, is housed in a 15th-century farmhouse designated as a historical monument, situated in the urban centre of the city.

The third Private Museum is the artist’s latest project and the only one featuring works exclusively by Alfredo Palmero. This is the NEPCA (Nuevo Espacio Palmero Charco Azul), located in an old banana warehouse on the Island of La Palma, which will be inaugurated on June 7, 2017. The museum will host Imagina Guanches, a thematic collection filled with symbolism, traditions, legends, and mythology of Guanche culture as a tribute to the painter’s Canarian origins.

Since 1991, Alfredo has held exhibitions in cities around the world such as Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, Valencia, Brussels, London, Lisbon, Paris, Monte Carlo, Denmark, Berlin, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Miami, Panama, Hong Kong, Qatar, Kuwait, Washington, New York, China, and South Korea… thus becoming an international painter. Additionally, his works can be found in important private collections.
